形態特徵

Culms 5-24 m tall, 5-15 cm in diam., internodes 13-35 cm long; nodes prominent, 2-5 mm high, bearing a ring of aerial roots on lower nodes of culm; walls 0.8-3 cm thick; branches armed with 3 stiff recurved spines at each node.
Sheath of culm deciduous, coriaceous, densely hairy; auricles of sheath large, broad, with tufts of brown bristles; ligule of sheath conspicuous, serrate, hairy along margins; blade of sheath triangular or ovate-lanceolate, glabrous. Leaves 5-9, linear-lanceolate, 10-25 cm long, 0.5-2 cm broad, acute, obtuse at base; veins 5-6, veinets 8-9, subtessellate, densely spinulose-scabrous along one margin, sparsely so or entire along other; petioles 2-4 mm long; auricles of leaf obvious, with tufts of brown bristles; ligule of leaf nearly rounded, aristate; sheath of leaf 3.5-6 cm long, pubescent when young.
Spikelets in clusters of 2-6 at nodes of leafless branches, 2.5-4 cm long, 3-4 mm in diam., light purple when mature, 4-12 flowered, usually bearing 2-5 perfect florets; glumes 2, 2 mm long; lemma ovate-oblong, 6-9 mm long, 2.5-4 mm wide, veins 9-11; palea 7 mm long, 1.8 mm wide, bilobed at apex, veins 3 between keel and edge, densely hairy on keels; gynoecium 4 mm long; ovary lagena shaped, 1.2-2 mm long, with 2 vascular strands seen in cross section; style short with 3 feathery stigma; stamens 6, filaments 6-7 mm long, anthers 3-4 mm long; lodicules 3, obovate, hairy along margins.

台灣 : Probably introduced. One of the most important bamboos in Taiwan, widely cultivated throughout the island to 1,000m.
